Life for many has not turned out the way they expected. Some folks may see each year of their life as a year of many unanswered prayers, unfinished projects, unfulfilled dreams and disappointments. And they are thinking and asking:
"If the previous years of my life was like this would the next years be any better?"
The children of Israel had the same question about their future after the death of Joshua. They looked at their future and they saw that they had many more battles to fight. Much of their promised land (a type of God's promises to us, and our personal dreams and visions) was yet to be taken. They had serious battles to fight and dangerous enemies to face. The task ahead was huge and somewhat intimidating.
Having no king and no leader to direct their movement, they decided to seek answers from God by inquiring from the Lord what step they are to take in achieving their goals and the fulfillment of their unfulfilled dreams.
Judges 1:1-2
"Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?
And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand."
"Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?" they asked. To rephrase this question, you would have something like this:
- "What must we do first to overcome the obstacles ahead of us?"
- "What must we do first to have our unfulfilled dreams and goals fulfilled?"
- "What must we do first to possess the blessing?"
Usually the first step to achieving anything is the major step. That's why it is popularly said that "Starting is half job done". Starting generally involves taking the first step.
God's response to the question of the children of Israel was amazingly prophetic .... He said:
"Judah shall go up (first): behold, I have delivered the land into his hand."
What is the prophetic meaning to us in God's response. We see the answer in Genesis 29:35:
"And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing."
In other words, Judah means "Let God be praised" or "Give God the Praise!"
God asking the children of Israel to let Judah go up first, simply means that:
The Future - your future is at hand and there is coming a sore financial famine upon the world and God is saying the first thing you must do as you enter every year, month, week and day of your life is to "PUT JUDAH FIRST!"
Your previous years, months, weeks and days may have been very disappointing for you, God is saying:
- "If you must conquer and be exempted from the sore financial famine that is coming upon the world, PRAISE SHOULD GOD FIRST!"
- "If you must conquer in all your battles you face in life PRAISE SHOULD GO FIRST!"
- "If you must regain lost grounds in the future and have divine speed to accomplish great things, PRAISE SHOULD GO FIRST!"
- "If you must see things working out together for your good, in your favour and for your success, peace, prosperity and comfort, then PUT AWAY RESENTMENTS, COMPLAINING, MURMURING, AND FEELING DISAPPOINTED WITH HOW YOUR LIFE MIGHT HAVE TURNED OUT TO BE AND GO AHEAD TO PUT PRAISE FIRST!"
King Jehoshapat in 2 Chronicles 20:1 - 21 conquered a whole formidable army of the enemy by putting men who praised the Lord for His Mercies before the battle line and the result was that they didn't need to fight in the battle ... God fought for them and won the victory for them. Stop doing it your own way. Your way hasn't worked for you so far .... Start winning by PUTTING PRAISE FIRST!
I encourage you to start now - set aside some days or a week and dedicate it only to praise God. When each year of your life rolls in, dedicate some days in each week - not to ask for anything - but to "PUT JUDAH FIRST!" - to praise God.
Praise is God's ordained strength for our lives. I see the covenant of exemption and blessings working in your favour in the rest of your days on earth.

As children of God, God is going to give us great wisdom and an excellent spirit to acquire and not to lose; to rise and not to fall; to take a hold of divinely orchestrated opportunities, to maximize them and to execute them to our greatest advantage.
- The famine coming upon the world is not FOR YOU!
- By the reason of the covenant you are exempted!
- You will prosper in diversity of ways!
- Like the widow of Zarephath whom God commanded to sustain Prophet Elijah for many days, God will command and send the right people on your way; at the right places, at the right time and on time to help you; to support you; to favour you; to bless you; and to give to you.
- Your steps will not slide into the corruption of the world system. Your steps will not slide into sin, poverty, lack and pain.
- You will live in abundance - the 100 fold increase shall be your portion.
- You will not lose your business or your job.
- For those reading this without a job, the Lord is sorting you out. That connection - that job - that favour you need to get the right job comes upon you right now.
- Every year of your life shall not be against you.... Every year of your life shall be for you and shall work for you.
- When the devil comes messing, God will start blessing you.
- A wide door is opened unto you in every year of your life - you shall enter each year, each month, each week, each day and possess favours, delights, grace, speed of accomplishment, fulfillment, a good spouse, a good home, a good marriage, and divinely cooked opportunities just for you.
- None shall die - none shall suffer loses.
- You will start each year, each month, each week and each day strong and finish strong
This is the Lord's Word for you.
