THE DISAPPOINTMENT OF A DEAD FATHER - (A short story by Ezekiel Benson - please read and share)

He lived a loose life. Never got married. Slept with different flavours of women, had only one son, Thomas, who attended church, played the keyboard in church, talked the bible and occasionally preached to his father to repent.

Thomas, was gentle, loved by all in church and lived as one who had passion for the work of God. He would pray and read his bible. His dad scorned and mocked him, saying "there is no God. Life is short, enjoy life now boy". Then came a day, Thomas' dad was standing at the side walk of a road, waiting to cross to the other side .. A truck whose brakes had failed reeled towards him at top speed and crushed him... He died instantly.

The next moment, he appeared before God, was found wanting, judged and sent to hot hell. He screamed, cried, wailed and begged for mercy. But the more he screamed, the more the reality of the eternal moment dawned on him " there was no hope. He has lost his chance. No mercy can be given". In weaknesses, despair and pain, he fell face down to the ground, crying. Then a hand dragged him up .. the hand of the angel of the Lords judgement.

As the angel of the Lords Judgment led him into the gates of hell... He whispered the following under his breath, " at least Thomas my son is a christian, he ain't coming here". The angel of the Lords judgement paused in his tracks and turned to him saying take, flip through this and see. He handed him what looked like a flip video of Thomas' life. What he saw was a disappointment ... It broke his heart. He cried out " Nooooooooo, this can't be" His hands trembled as he flipped through the video as he saw Thomas, though known by all to be a born again christian, a keyboardist, a worker in church, loved by all, and even preaching - fornicating, lying, defiling himself secretly by masturbating, patronising prostitutes and engaging in every form of acts that is not right. He saw Thomas engaging in fraudulent activities, giving bribes and taking bribes. He saw another flip where Thomas engaged the help of the dark world to deal with a man who regarded as his enemy.

Thomas was envious, covetous, wicked, full of evil devices and intents. He kept on flipping the videos until he saw a flip of Thomas' outward man and his inward man standing side by side. His outward man looked nice, and he looked at the angel saying, "this is the Thomas I know", The angel answered him not a word. He looked down into the video flip and gazed intently on Thomas' inward man. His inward man was crooked, twisted and dark. He kept on flipping until he got to the end of the video.

At the end of the flip video, he saw two things ..Thomas' darkened heart and a cup with his name written on it. The cup was almost full. His father screamed, "Thomas can't come here... Please do something". The angel collected the flip video from him and said "The Lord in His mercy has deployed means to reach everyone with the gospel and His Spirit constantly warns men and women all around the world to turn from their evil ways. If your son does not repent, he may soon be lost forever and join you here. "

Thomas' father screamed " Noooooooooooo .... Please don't let that happen. Pleaaaaase.! " A strong force overpowered him and dragged him into the furnace of hell. He screamed and cried so loud until his screams became faint and finally no more as he was dragged deeper into the depths of hell. He went to hell disappointed.

Many of our dead parents and associates whom we portrayed ourselves to as christians before they died are actually disappointed, not only because they didn't make it to heaven, but because those they loved and who they thought are right with God are actually far from salvation themselves. Christianity is a life style and not just a religion. It is about a relationship with God via the blood of Jesus.

My brothers and sisters, you may look christianeez on the outside, but the state of your inward man is what matters. Many have double lives and live double standards. People may know you as a born-again christian, but are you really? I hope your time is not running out.
